Cortazzone (Piemonte)
Piedmontese and Corsican
Romanesque are very similar, though the latter is somewhat rustic.
The apse of this church has some remarkable carvings.
This naked male with large testicles is an atlante, possibly supporting the vault of heaven, empowered by the Belt of Strength around his waist.
The figure on the right may be hermaphrodite.
The one on the left is wearing a belt and seems to have a serpent-penis.
Compare with this frieze from Villers-sur-Oise, North of Paris.
A beautiful and enigmatic composition.
Interior capitals.
