Shanrahan (Tipperary)

I can only assume that the reason why this very crude figure was not reported until the nineteen-eighties is that it was obscured by ivy. It can be seen clearly half-way up the tower, just below the blocked-up window.

Cathal, the early saint associated with Shanrahan, ended up in Sicily,
where he is still greatly celebrated as San Cataldo.
